Cycle Hire to Charlestown

Hire one of our high-quality bikes and take a ride to the romantic port of Charlestown, just outside St Austell. Built in 1791 to handle ore from the mines, the ore was soon replaced by China-Clay. Fowey and Par eventually superseded Charlestown, leaving a remarkable town unspoilt by modern industry. Nowadays, it has become a home to historic ships like square-riggers and is used frequently in period dramas.

There is a lot to see here, beautiful woodlands are nearby, and in the port itself are The Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage Centre, shops, quality pubs and restaurants. All are situated in this quaint olde worlde time warp. You can even sail away on a square-rigger, just like Captain Ross Poldark and Hornblower!
